Overview

At Kimberworth Manor Estate, we are committed to preserving heritage while enriching community life. Rooted in history yet designed for the future, our project breathes new life into one of South Yorkshire’s most distinguished historic landmarks. By offering high-quality living and accommodation options, we aim to make this manor house a cornerstone of the local real estate landscape, one that honours the past while building a vibrant tomorrow.

Why it matters

This manor is more than stone and slate—it’s a story of Yorkshire’s rural nobility, social structure, and architectural excellence. Since receiving its Grade II status in 1951, it has been legally protected to ensure future generations can appreciate its charm and significance.

By restoring and revitalising Kimberworth Manor House, we contribute to:

  • Cultural preservation
  • Sustainable development
  • Community enrichment

Estate Features

Surrounding the manor are several Grade II–listed and protected structures

A 17th-century dovecote approximately 25m to the southeast, constructed of squared sandstone and featuring classic pigeonholes

The remains of a late-17th-century barn and horse-engine house, part of the estate’s working past

Our Heritage

Kimberworth Manor House was originally constructed in 1694 by the Kent family, prominent landowners who later allied with the Rawson and Creswick families. A carved stone at the eaves still bears the date 1694, serving as a testament to its long-standing legacy

  • Coursed sandstone walls with ashlar dressings
  • Welsh slate roofing and traditional mullioned and casement windows
  • A symmetrical five-bay façade with ornate gables and bullseye windows
  • An elegant main entrance framed by a pulvinated frieze and peaked cornice
  • Three floors plus a cellar, with preserved interior highlights including:
    • A grand elliptic-arched limestone fireplace
    • A finely crafted wood staircase with intricate balustrade
    • An Adam-style marble fireplace and original cupboards in the 18th-century reception rooms

Community & Current Use

While the adjacent Manor Barn has transitioned from a pub to a private events venue, it continues to serve the community through private functions. The manor house remains a visual and cultural anchor in Kimberworth, with the building visible from Church Street.

Kimberworth itself is steeped in history—listed in the Domesday Book, with links to Roman settlements, medieval iron smelting, and even a long-vanished castle.
